Primitivo IGP Terribile is an absolutely particular and fine wine. A true breed Primitivo of Manduria produced from grapes harvested in the countryside of Uggiano Montefusco in the DOC Manduria area from plants raised with the typical and traditional Salento system of the Pugliese tree. The type of soil where these plants are pampered with a clayey base with a high concentration of iron-based minerals (red soil) and with a subsoil of carparo and marl that favors the perfect drainage. The year of planting is 1999 yield per hectare 50 quintals approximately with a very low yield around 1 kg of grapes per plant. The type of climate in this area that is only 6/7 km from the sea is typically Mediterranean, with ample insolation and good summer ventilation and with mild winters and never too humid.
The harvest takes place manually, with the harvest in the first ten days of September. The grapes come with special measures such as cooling brought to the winery in Copertino where de-stemming and peeling are carried out followed by temperature-controlled maceration. Once the established organoleptic parameters have been reached, the racking is separated from the wine and finally the final product is ready for the right rest, going to refine for 9 months in new American oak barrels made from a further refinement in the bottle for 1 years.
Primitivo Terribile is a majestic wine, as only a Primitivo di Manduria can be. An impenetrable ruby red color with beautiful violet reflections on a glass. A taste of smell and a regality without comparison, with an impressive nose of fruity notes due to ripe fruit, red berries and elegant spicy notes such as vanilla and cloves, and with a final balsamic note where you can perceive the scent of Mediterranean scrub.
In the mouth it is impetuous, full bodied, and even if it shows the account of its 16 degrees of alcohol, it can give a good balance in which the elegance of tannins is well supported by a right acid note that together with a very high concentration of alcohol gives to the wine persistence and attitude to aging.
