Pietrafinita is a great wine produced by the company Feudi di Guagnano from old trees of fifty years and more, which produce small clusters that are dried for a month in wooden crates. The wine that is obtained ages for 12 months in small oak barrels. Complex and elegant on the nose with sensations of black cherry and licorice.In the final interminable mouth of cocoa and berries.
The name of this wine, Pietrafinita, remains in the memory from the first taste, just like the “pietrafinita” or border stones, have remained for centuries in the same place where our ancestors had placed them in order to delimit the boundaries of their vineyards.
The grapes come from vineyards located in the area of Maruggio / Sava and the harvest is done manually at the beginning of September. Small bunches of primitivo are placed in single-layer wooden boxes for drying which lasts about 30 days. At the end of the drying period, the grapes are subjected to a gentle destemming.
The fermentation of the grapes lasts approximately two weeks.The wine that is obtained ages for 12 months in French oak barrels and then for 6 months in bottle.
