Nonna Cecca Primitivo is an extraordinary wine produced by Agricola Fabiana in the land of Manduria. It is produced from Primitivo grapes grown in the countryside of Faggiano near the Ionian Sea in vineyards at about 100 m above sea level with very high average temperatures and a particularly low rainfall. The soils are medium-clayey grained.
The vineyard, partly planted with the sapiese sapling system and partly espalier, is composed of an average density of about 5000 plants per hectare with an average age of 30-year-old vines. The vineyard gives an average yield of about 70 quintals per hectare. The grapes are harvested in the last 10 days of September, after the late withering on the plant and after hand harvesting, the selection of the best bunches, and the pigiodiraspatura proceeds with a thermocontrolled maceration, followed by racking and soft pressing at the end of fermentation.
Nonna Cecca is a very intense ruby red wine with violet reflections, intense aroma, fruity with hints of plum and cherries, spicy with hints of rosemary and vanilla. Body wine, soft and harmonious, easy to drink and pleasant.
