Askos is the name of this wine produced from dauve di susumaniello produced in the countryside of Cellino San Marco. This wine is the result of the project by Masseria Li Veli dedicated to the research, selection and enhancement of the heritage of the Apulian indigenous grape varieties in danger of extinction. The wines are produced exclusively with grapes from areas with particular vocation in which the vine is bred according to the canons of an ancient memory. The symbol is an Askos, a Greek “decanter” from the 1st century BC The harvest is carried out in the first week of October, with manual harvesting, which is followed by pigiodiraspatura and vinification at controlled temperature. The refinement is refined for 9 months in oak barrels, which is followed by the final maturation in the bottle.
Askos has a ruby red color with violet reflections; on the nose it has aromas of red berry fruits such as raspberry, maraschino cherry and cassis followed by licorice, rhubarb, leather. In the mouth it enters soft and of good fatness, it is elegant and balanced with completely integrated tannins. The finish is long with a touch of acidity for a feeling of great freshness.
