Antieri is the latest wine born in the Schola Sarmenti of Nardò winery. A wine produced with susumaniello grapes that completes the offer of wines produced from native Salentini vines. Antieri reflects the company’s philosophy, which in the last 10 years has focused on quality in the vineyard and in the cellar, producing refined wines, with a marked personality and very representative of the territory. Antieri is a wine with limited production that is obtained from vineyards in the territory of Nardò, relatively young, grown using the espalier and Guyout technique.
The grapes are harvested by hand in the second and third week of September and then manually selected on a sorting table to allow only the best bunches to contribute to the production of this great quality wine. Then follow the phases of maceration and fermentation at controlled temperature carried out in stainless steel vats. At the end of the malolactic fermentation, the wine is stabilized after being transferred and refined in French oak barrels where it will rest for at least 12 months. Finally, the wine is further refined in the bottle for a period of 6-9 months.
Antieri is a strong, fresh, balanced wine with great body, a wine with an intense and impenetrable ruby red color. A wine that knows how to be strong but gracefully, managing to strike with its complex and delicate aromas with fruity and spicy notes in which blackberries, ripe cherries, black pepper, vanilla and cloves are distinguished and finally ends with a very long persistence in the mouth. A great Susumaniello that enriches the offer of this great Salento winery.
