The white wines from Salento, with their DOC (guarantee of origin) and ITG (typical geographic indication) designations, represent a great importance in the wine production of the region. The most common white berry grapes are: Bombino Bianco, Malvasia Bianca, Verdeca and Fiano; it’s singular the case of the blend Chardonnay that, although this grape has no “historical” ties with Puglia, is actually the most widely planted white grape and widespread in the peninsula Salento.
